About Our Psychologists

Read on as our counselling psychologists share about themselves

I grew up in a chaotic and unpredictable environment. I believe those experiences cultivated my curiosity, compassion and determination to help others. It sparked my passion to understand how our early life experiences influence our current behaviours. I wondered how we can change our behaviours to develop adaptive strategies.

We do not choose the hardships life bestows upon us, but we are left to clean up the mess. I help my clients see their unhelpful patterns and make behavioural changes that contribute to the healing process.

It was a long journey to get where I am today. I started out in the restaurant industry, then the optical industry and had brief moments in retail, until I made my way into the oil and gas industry.  At that point, I was unsatisfied with my working life and knew I wanted a change. I pursued education and simultaneously began working in the social services field, where I have been for more than a dozen years and am grateful to be in this career.

I have several years experience working as a therapist helping people to resolve their personal struggles and improve their lives. I have worked in non-profit, hospital and private settings with all range of professionals (i.e. first responders, nurses, teachers, lawyers, engineers, students, customer service and those in leadership roles).

I founded Psychology Solutions Calgary in 2015 and am pleased at our continual growth. I have a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Psychology from Mount Royal University, a Masters of Counselling Degree from Adler University and I am a Registered Psychologist. I am a professional member of the College of Alberta Psychologists, Psychologists Association of Alberta and EMDR Canada. I look forward to our work together.         Meghan

Initiating any type of therapy can be intimidating. My approach is to offer a welcoming, non-judgmental space where clients feel heard and understood as we work together on your treatment goals. I work with individuals on a wide range of mental health-related issues, including anxiety, depression, trauma, grief and loss, parenting, burnout and workplace issues.  Over the years, I have worked with clients from a variety of fields, from first responders, health care workers and teachers, to executives, business and sales professionals, and office personnel, and to stay-at-home moms and dads.

Prior to becoming a registered psychologist, I worked with organizations developing and managing mental health programs in their workplaces. Over time, I discovered that my interests shifted from the corporate scale, to a desire to helping people make a positive impact in their own lives, at the individual scale. I use a client-centered approach to therapy using concepts and tools from Cognitive Behaviour Therapy, Solution Focused Therapy, and Accelerated Resolution Therapy.

I have a Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology from Harding University, and a Master of Arts degree in Organizational Psychology from Middle Tennessee State University.  I am a Registered Psychologist, a member of  the College of Alberta Psychologists and the Psychologists Association of Alberta. I find great reward in helping people achieve a life of purpose that is in line with one’s values. Let’s get started.       Nicola

In life there is so much uncertainty. For some this may be paired with self-doubt, trauma, worry, depression, stress, or many other factors that can make it seem difficult to find the way.  Whatever it might be that has brought you to this page, my goal is to provide a compassionate and collaborative approach centered around supporting you to reach your goals.  I believe our ability to adapt in positive ways is fostered by growing through tough situations and changes.  I strive to offer a safe place to support you through this process.

For 12 years I worked as a counsellor with youth and young adults struggling with developmental disorders, anxiety, depression, trauma, and addiction. Through these experiences I developed a special interest in a trauma informed approach and supporting people who had endured traumatic events. Since becoming a Registered Psychologist in 2016, I have worked with occupational and operational injuries, including trauma, chronic pain, anxiety, and depression supporting individuals to build tools for coping and confidence in their resiliency. I also work with couples to improve their relationships.

I work drawn from several different therapeutic approaches, including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, Solution Focused Brief Therapy, and Accelerated Resolution Therapy. I have a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Psychology from the University of Regina and a Masters of Counselling Psychology Degree from Athabasca University. I am in good standing with the College of Alberta Psychologists and am a member of the Psychologists Association of Alberta. I find it an honor to create a space for those willing to share their struggles and look forward to working alongside you in your journey for wellness!
